Are you tired of the pungent smell of mothballs in your closet? There’s a natural and aromatic alternative that’s gaining popularity: cedar rings. Not only do they offer a pleasant scent, but cedar rings also provide excellent protection for your clothing without the harsh chemicals found in traditional mothballs.
In this blog, we’ll explore what cedar rings are, how they work, and why they are an essential addition to any wardrobe looking for natural protection.
What Are Cedar Rings?
Cedar rings are precisely what their name suggests—rings made from natural cedar wood, designed to fit around the necks of hangers in your closet.
Composition and Design
- Material: Made from 100% natural cedar wood, known for its durability and aromatic properties.
- Shape: Circular, designed to slip easily over hanger hooks, enveloping your garments in protective cedar fragrance.
The Benefits of Using Cedar Rings in Your Closet
Cedar isn’t just an alternative to mothballs; they’re a significant upgrade. Here’s how they can transform your wardrobe maintenance.
Natural Moth Repellent
- Aromatic Oils: Cedar wood contains natural oils that repel moths, effectively keeping them away from your clothes without harmful chemicals.
Eco-Friendly and Safe
- Non-Toxic: Unlike mothballs, which release potentially harmful chemicals, cedar rings are completely natural and safe for your home and family.
- Sustainable: Cedar is a renewable resource, making cedar rings an environmentally responsible choice.
How Do Cedar Rings Work?
Understanding the functionality of cedar is key to maximizing their benefits.
Moth Prevention Mechanism
- Repelling Through Aroma: The natural oils in cedar, particularly cedarwood oil, are unpleasant to moths and other insects, effectively deterring them from lingering in your closet.
Longevity and Maintenance
- Refreshable: The scent of cedar can diminish over time, but they can be easily refreshed with light sanding or an application of cedar oil.
Integrating Cedar Rings into Your Wardrobe Care
Incorporating cedar into your clothing care routine is straightforward and efficient.
Placement Tips
- Optimal Placement: Hang cedar rings on the hangers with your most valuable or vulnerable items, such as wool sweaters or silk dresses.
- Coverage: Ensure even distribution of cedar throughout your closet for comprehensive protection.
Complementary Practices
- Regular Cleaning: Keep your closet clean and vacuumed to prevent pest infestations.
- Proper Storage: Store out-of-season clothes in breathable, cedar-lined storage bags for added protection.

Make Sure Your Cedar Is Made In America
We are extremely proud of is that our cedar is manufactured in the United States. Most of our competition is Chinese. Their cedar is grown in the USA, it is then shipped to China, manufactured, and then shipped back to USA.
Most Cedar Companies Are Chinese!
We ask that you really do your homework when ordering your cedar. We are literally the only company (to date) that is on Amazon that in American made.
Much of our competition brags about the cedar being “grown in the USA” and that can be tricky because they aren’t lying. They never advertise that their cedar is made in China.
When we started in 2019, we had to rely on Chinese suppliers for our cedar. Since 2022 we have figured out how to manufacture our cedar right here in the United States. This also is why our pricing is a little higher then our competition BUT you get an extremely higher quality product because it doesn’t sit in a shipping container for the trip to China and the trip back.
