About the wood and profile
Western Red Cedar is the classic North American sauna wood. It has a warm reddish color and a light, natural cedar scent, stays dimensionally stable through heat and humidity, and resists decay. It is light and does not hold much heat, so it stays comfortable to touch.
S4SEE means smooth on four sides with eased (rounded) edges, so it is ready for benches and backrests with no sanding.
Planning a bench
- Leave about 3/8″ between boards so water drains and air moves.
- A 20″ deep bench takes about 5 boards across at 3.50″ wide.
- Support bench boards about every 24″ with framing underneath.
- Hide fasteners from below so no hot metal touches skin.

How shipping works
All the sauna wood in your order ships together by freight, and you pay one freight charge for the whole order, not per board: 15% of your sauna wood total, with a $149 minimum and a $795 maximum. Freight is free once your sauna wood reaches $6,000. It is worked out for you at checkout.

1 ft sample pieces ship by parcel, so you can see the color and profile before you order a full room. Freight is delivered curbside; long boards are unloaded by hand, so plan for a helper. Alaska and Hawaii ship at a higher freight rate. Call us for lead time.
