What does the Lone Star flag mean?
The Texas Flag Code assigns the following symbolism to the colors of the Texas flag: blue stands for loyalty, white for purity, and red for bravery. The code also states that the single (lone) star “represents ALL of Texas and stands for our unity as one for God, State, and Country”

Why does the Texas flag only have one star?
The lone star on the flag represents Texas as the Lone Star State, established as a symbol years before when Texas gained independence from Mexico.

When did the Lone Star flag become the official flag?
The official flag of Texas was adopted in session by the Third Congress of the Republic of Texas in Houston, January 25, 1839, on motion of William H. Wharton, Oliver Jones and others.

Where did the Lone Star flag come from?
On January 4, 1889 a Senate committee paid $10 to Austin artist Peter Krag to create a color drawing of a new red, white and blue flag for Texas — its lone star, of course, and Krag’s drawing became the prototype of the same flag that still represents Texas today
