Why Choose Wood Fired or Electric Sauna Heat?
When choosing your sauna heater, you’ll decide between a traditional wood-fired heater or a modern electric heater.
Both deliver the heat and steam that define a great sauna experience, but each offers unique benefits and
considerations depending on how and where you plan to use your sauna. :contentReference[oaicite:1]{index=1}

Wood Fired Sauna Heat
Wood-fired heaters use burning wood to heat the sauna rocks and room naturally, creating a rich, classic
sauna experience. This traditional method offers deep, enveloping heat and a sensory experience — the sound,
warmth, and scent of a wood fire — that many sauna lovers seek out. :contentReference[oaicite:2]{index=2}
- Pros: Authentic ritual and sensory experience, heat that persists even after the fire dies down, can operate off-grid.
- Cons: Requires tending and fuel, longer heat-up time, chimney/venting needs for safe operation.

Electric Sauna Heat
Electric heaters use an electric element to warm sauna rocks, offering fast heat-up, precise temperature
control, and simple operation. Ideal for daily use, indoor installations, and situations where convenience
and ease of use are priorities. :contentReference[oaicite:3]{index=3}
- Pros: Easy to use with consistent heat and controls, faster startup, minimal maintenance.
- Cons: Requires reliable electrical service, less hands-on ritual, and heat profile can feel “dryer” or more uniform than wood fire.

From nature parks to boutique hotels and glamping retreats—these handcrafted spaces are built to be remembered.
See Iglucraft in Action
A real-world installation at a nature park in Denmark.
Greetings from Denmark
We were looking for something more exclusive than just a cabin. We needed something really special and these
Iglucraft cabins from Estonia match exactly that – they are handcrafted, comfortable like a hotel room and
organic in form. Being able to place these cabins in a setting like this was the best we could do, as we are
an animal nature park and we want everything to reflect that. We have found the perfect match.

Iglucraft handcrafted sauna in France
Marie-Caroline contacted Iglucraft with a vision of providing her hotel visitors a nook for perfect sauna
rituals. Being surrounded by spectacular plays of nature, she wished for more space and better views from the
sauna and the steaming room. This vision of our client together with the work of Iglucraft designers resulted
in a new product that boasts bigger windows for better views, more elegance, and more space.

100% occupancy rates in Cornwall
I must say we are beyond lucky to have stumbled across Iglucraft cabins very soon after they launched in the UK.
The cabins do most of the work in getting the bookings and are responsible for all our 5-star reviews as well.
We are really proud of what we have built here in Lydcott Glamping.

Four seasons cabins in Norway
The Iglucraft cabin and sauna have been a valuable addition to our business since day one. Although the
situation throughout the year has been difficult for many, it has been good for us, because of the increased
domestic travels that have kept our cabin fully occupied.

Iglucraft cabins on water in Germany
It is history, it’s not just plastic, a metal roof or something made by industrial machines. It’s alive.
We actually spent the first night in the Igluhut. We woke up so that we looked directly from our bed onto
the water and we thought, if our guests also feel the same way that we do, then we’ve done something right.
I believe it will never lose its magic.

Frequently Asked Questions
Here are the most common questions we get about Iglucraft saunas—covering heater options, delivery, setup,
and what to expect once your sauna arrives.
How many people does the Single sauna fit?
The Single sauna is designed to comfortably fit up to 4 people. For the best experience,
many customers use it as a premium 1–2 person daily sauna and a 3–4 person sauna for occasional gatherings.
What’s the difference between a wood-fired sauna and an electric sauna?
A wood-fired sauna delivers a traditional, ritual-based experience—tending a fire,
deep natural heat, and rich steam (löyly) when you add water to the rocks. An electric sauna
is all about convenience: fast start-up, precise temperature control, and simple on/off operation.
If you want an off-grid capable setup and the classic experience, wood is ideal. If you want everyday ease,
consistent heat, and often indoor-friendly installation, electric is a great fit.
How long does it take to heat up?
Heat-up time depends on outdoor temperature, wind, and heater choice. In general, electric heaters can
reach temperature faster and more consistently, while wood-fired heaters can take a bit longer but often
provide a more immersive “slow build” experience.
Can I pour water on the rocks?
Yes. Adding water to the hot rocks creates steam (löyly) and increases perceived heat. Always use water
safely and follow heater manufacturer guidance—especially for electric heaters—to protect components and
maintain proper airflow.
Do I need a special foundation or pad?
You’ll want a stable, level base that supports the sauna’s weight. Many customers use a
compacted gravel pad, concrete pad, or a properly built deck/patio area. The best base depends on your site
conditions and local frost/soil considerations.
Does the sauna require permits?
Permit requirements vary by location. Some areas treat an outdoor sauna like an accessory structure, while
others do not. If you’re choosing an electric heater, local electrical requirements may also apply. We
recommend checking with your local building department to confirm what’s needed.
How does shipping work, and what do I need for unloading?
Shipping is arranged via scheduled freight. Depending on the freight option you choose, the customer is
responsible for either hand off-loading (piece by piece) or unloading with a forklift. Flatbed deliveries
often benefit from a forklift or the flexibility of crane placement.
We recommend planning your unloading method before delivery day so everything goes smoothly.
Can the carrier place the sauna exactly where I want it?
Freight carriers are typically “delivery only” with limited assistance on site. Final placement is usually
handled by the customer using a forklift or other equipment. If you want placement flexibility, flatbed
freight can allow for crane placement depending on your site and equipment access.
Can I use these saunas in cold, snowy climates?
Yes—these are built for outdoor use, and many customers love them in winter. In colder temps, heat-up time
can increase slightly, and wind protection helps. A solid base and good site planning make winter use
incredibly enjoyable.
How do I maintain the exterior and interior finishes?
Maintenance depends on placement and weather exposure. Keeping the exterior clean and free of debris and
ensuring proper drainage around the base goes a long way. Inside, allow the sauna to dry out between
sessions and avoid leaving wet towels on benches for long periods.
Do you offer support if I have questions before or after ordering?
Yes. Cedar Sense is here to help you plan your site, choose the right heater option, and understand delivery
requirements. Reach out anytime at (218) 760-2041 or
[email protected].
Handcrafted, Built to Last
Every Iglucraft sauna is made with a hands-on building process—crafted piece by piece, finished with care, and
built to feel like a true premium outdoor structure (not a mass-produced kit). The signature exterior shingles
aren’t just for looks—they add a durable, weather-ready layer that helps protect the sauna through real seasons.

Complete the Setup With an Iglucraft Wood Fired Hot Tub
If you’re building a true outdoor wellness space, nothing pairs with an outdoor sauna like a
wood fired hot tub. Many customers create a simple “fire & ice” routine by alternating
sauna heat with fresh air cooldowns—and finishing with a long soak under the sky.
Our Iglucraft hot tub is designed to match the look and build quality of these saunas, making it an easy
add-on for a complete, cohesive backyard retreat.

Cedar Sense × Iglucraft
Iglucraft was created around a simple idea: people need a space to step out of the daily rush and
take time—time to slow down, reflect, and reconnect. Their signature round structures are
inspired by nature’s shapes, designed to feel warm, balanced, and deeply calming.
Cedar Sense was founded in 2019 with a focus on craftsmanship, cedar, and products that help
people feel better at home. This partnership brings Iglucraft’s world-class sauna design to our customers
through a U.S.-based team that can help you plan, purchase, and prepare for delivery with confidence.
