First off, what is eucalyptus?

Eucalyptus is a plant that is native to Australia, Malaysia, and the Philippines. It is an evergreen tree or a large shrub. The trees can reach heights of up to 300 feet, and the shrubs 30 feet.

Eucalyptus is considered a gum tree due to the sap that is excreted when the bark is broken. Over the years, there have become many variations all over the world.

Next, what are some things I can do with it?

Follow along as we give you some tips and tricks on how to utilize the benefits of eucalyptus in the shower. These are so simple, anyone can do it!

1. Showerhead

  1. The steam from the shower helps activate and release the oil compounds in eucalyptus, allowing you to breathe them into your system. This can create a relaxing, spa-like environment for you to heal.
  2. Inhaling eucalyptus can reduce inflammation and bacteria, treating sinus congestion, sinus infections, and relieving coughs. Other benefits of eucalyptus in shower are that it may reduce stress and lower blood pressure.

2. How to Prepare It

  1. To hang eucalyptus in your shower, you can use dried or fresh leaves. Some people use as few as 3-4 leaf branches, and others use 7-12 leaf branches, it just depends on how strong you want the scent.
  2. First, gather the branches together, with the cut ends facing down.
  3. Clear the stems and remove the leaves from the bottom so you can tie them together.
  4. Next, cut a piece of string approximately 1-2 feet long.
  5. Wrap the string snug around the stems and tie the end of the branches together.
  6. Then, use the rest of your string to attach the eucalyptus bouquet to your showerhead or anywhere else in your shower and tie securely.
  7. You will soon feel the benefits of eucalyptus in shower soon! Replace the eucalyptus when you can no longer smell it.

WARNINGS

Before using essential oils topically, dilute it with a base oil, such as coconut oil. You can put a few drops of the oil with an ounce of the base oil. The oil itself from eucalyptus can irritate the eyes and mouth, so don’t place it directly under a water stream – let the steam release it into the air.

Do not use pure concentrated essential oils near/on children, pets, or pregnant people. Inhaling or coming in contact with eucalyptus oils can be toxic to pets and some people.
